Adventure games that deserve your headphones
Some games are made for noisy commutes. Others want you quiet, in bed, with the lights off and headphones on. Adventure games are usually the second kind.
Hollow Lanterns is the best recent example I've played. The fog, the muffled sound design, the slow drip of a mystery — none of it lands the same way through tinny phone speakers.
These games trade reflexes for mood. The puzzles matter, but what you remember afterward is a place and a feeling. That's rare on mobile and worth seeking out.
My advice: don't marathon them. Play an hour, let it sit overnight, come back. The atmosphere sticks better that way.
